How to Replace an Audi G28 Engine Speed Sensor

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the edge of transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to control fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu has to know when the crankshaft reached TDC and also the location of the camshaft so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. 2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at full speed I noticed a massive decrease in power. It was as if the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs, three were soaked with gazoline and the fourth was dry. When I start the engine without sparks i put tissue on top of each injector hole and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline pop out, but the 4th one stays shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got 0ohm. So i assume the problem is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected and it runs perfectly when it is connected however it has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when unplugged, still shows an ice temperature of -49c. Also, i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit is showing 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much all other possibilities out. But i'm worried that I might have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor.
